RedlLine rolls out the flight carbon kit

I saw this being posted in BMX News today. Redline has been working on this Flight Carbon kit for some time and has always been in the prototype stages, or so I have heard when i made some enquiries. It was then called the Project 79. According to the article:

Redline has put together an impressive mid-step between the frame and hub kit, and the full-on, Veyronesque build at $2799. The Flight Carbon “Rolling Chassis” is kitted out with an Answer Dagger fork, Sun Ringlé polished wheel set with black spokes and red nips and headset hardware with “Team” top-cap for the Daggers.

It costs about $1300 for this kit alone. Well, unless you are a serious racer, by all means, break the bank and get it. For me? I'd stick to the material that got Linn Kastan into the BMX industry by making unbreakable and reliable products: chromium molybdenum steel or chromoly for short.

Stu Thomsen

When I was a kid, growing up in the 80s (Yeah, I am an old fogey BMX-wise) one of the heroes I literally worshipped was Stu Thomsen. Stu on his RedLine was unstoppable. I really wanted a RedLine PL-20 back then but they were kinda out of my range because they were pretty expensive. At the last gathering, there were quite a few folks out there with RedLines so I decided that I would love to get one again, just to relive my old-school longing. I already have a Kuwahara but a RedLine is what I would love. So be wary out there...this old man will be riding on a PL-20 soon when I can find one. The only problem is...what colour do I paint it? Some of us here have PL-20s painted in white, black and school-bus yellow. Hmmm...decisions decisions but I have to get that frame first!

RedLine PL-20 given a new lease of life

I love it when people do restoration works on their old bikes. This is what Ah Tien did to his childhood bike. It is a beautiful RedLine PL-20. Check out the attention to detail and the repro-ed stickers. He is going to enjoy this ride and I can see why not...it is a work of art! This is testimony to Linn Kastan's genius. Night cruising at East Coast McDonalds on 8th December 2007

The legendary RedLine Flight crank...in red!

Red Flight cranks anybody? I did not know RedLine were still making these but it looks like they are. Cool eh? They have been making these for quite a few years now. Dual-pinchbolts and sealed bearings.

RedLine and its colourful history

RedLine has a rather colourful history. It seems that in the ABA Hall OF Fame, there are more RedLine riders than anyone else. Check out the history of RedLine and the bikes they made and read how RedLine came from a manufacturer of motorcycle chassis to BMX.
