Old-school BMX gathering at Bukit Batok on 16th August

Our monthly old-school gathering at the Bukit Batok Skate Park was a success as usual. This time it was a little different. Ismail and myself got interviewed by some students from Temasek Polytechnic. They got to know about BMX and I got to know how resourceful these students are when it comes to conducting interviews. Hopefully, they got a better understanding of BMX and how it functions, how it interests us and how it can appeal to the youth in Singapore. We had some skateboarders there to add to the scene and I must say that it was one of the few times that I got to see the Bukit Batok skatepark so full of activity. I always have a great time at these gatherings. Oh and the postings can be found at the forums here

Another Temasek Polytechnic student sends me an email

I received this in the mail the other day.

Good Day,

We are a bunch of Temasek Design School students, currently working on our year 2 Project which is to design a website for the Youth Olympic Games. So, we have decided to focus on the new sports that will be featured in the Olympics and one of it is BMX Racing.

It would be great if you could provide us the information on the apparels, equipments and the rules & regulation for BMX Racing. And maybe your opinion on the future prospects of BMX in terms of an event in the Olympics, since there are the different genres of BMX. And is it possible for us to hold a meet up so that we conduct an interview with you?

To the one that wrote this, you are more than welcome to interview me and I will do all I can for the promotion of BMX in Singapore. Well, he said he might come down for the old-school BMX gathering on the 16th of August. We hope to see him there.

BMX apparel

I had an email today from this young lady from Temasek Polytechnic, asking what apparel BMX riders wore. I am always happy to receive questions like this as it gives me the chance to educate people who do not know anything about BMX. She asked me what kind of "uniform" BMX riders wore. I just told her via email that all a BMX rider needs is a pair of long pants and a long-sleeved T-shirt. The reason for wearing it is because it helps to cushion your arms and legs from bails. Of course if you can get a specially-made BMX jersey, it would be a lot better as these jerseys are vented and are a lot cooler than a cotton long-sleeved T-shirt. So to all out there. If you need BMX questions that need to be answered, especially about BMX in Singapore, send me an email to admin@osbmx.com

I will be happy to provide you the answers to your questions the best I possibly can.
